Terry Etherton

I became fascinated by environmental portraits early on seeing the work of Arnold Newman. This Portrait of Terry Etherton, photo gallery owner in Tucson, recently appeared in Arizona Highways Magazine. For me, getting a narrative to work for that person is the biggest challenge. This usually starts with a short interview to understand the subject’s story and find those sometimes obscure visual possibilities.

Dan Levinson portrait

If you want to get a good picture of Dan Levinson you have to take a running start. He has so much energy and exuberance it's contagious. This photo was created for the Southwest Folklife Alliance. He is a Master Artist Awardee.

The Graduate Hotel

Sometimes the most dramatic light happens just a minute or two before sunset and the sun breaks through a sliver cut in the clouds at the horizon. I took a chance going out on a windy and overcast day. At one point the wind blew my laptop sunshade into the pool. This photo was created for Arizona Highways Magazine at The Graduate Hotel in Tucson.
