This photo of Jackie Oatman, owner of Patisserie Jacqui in Bisbee was created for Arizona Highways Magazine, March 2023 issue. Sometimes you walk into a location and choosing the best angle and lighting can be complex, but this photo seemed obvious to me. I knew exactly what it should look like, the problem was, we had to photograph at the busiest time of day with a number of workers serving customers almost nonstop. We set things up as people were working, including the lighting. At the moment we needed to actually take the photo we had to stop all the action and work as fast as possible without all the tumult showing on the subject’s face.
